The Osborn - Social and Mail Lounge Renovations
Rye, NY
KDA was engaged to reimagine two underutilized lobby spaces, transforming them into inviting, multipurpose social hubs designed to enrich daily life and foster community.
In collaboration with residents and staff, the KDA team transformed the first lobby into a vibrant social lounge; centered around a coffee bar, filled with natural light, and designed with flexibility in mind - from book club gatherings and card games to casual conversations and pre-dinner mingling.
At the opposite end of the wing, the second lobby was transformed into a complementary lounge. What were once two separate mail areas were combined into an open, lively postal commons inspired by the welcoming style of high-end New York City apartment lobbies.

Testimonials
“The Social Lounge has quickly become a favorite spot for residents to gather, enjoy coffee, read a book, or even share a pour of scotch from their personal storage lockers. We decided to use the new Social Lounge for a holiday music gathering. It worked out perfectly, and everyone had a great time! ”
