Bancroft - Lakeside Campus

Mullica Hill, NJ

Bancroft engaged KDA Architects to redevelop an existing rural campus serving developmentally disabled and brain-injured individuals in a residential/vocational setting. The project creates an environment that blends with its rural setting and creates a compact, self-contained ‘live-work’ village community, appropriate to the special needs of its residents.

The plan provides outdoor and indoor spaces for community interaction and special events, socializing porches on all the buildings, a network of interconnecting walking paths, a greenhouse and gardening area, and a shop to sell the craft items and horticultural products created by residents in the vocational programs.

Applying our expertise in integrating site and building elements into a comprehensive whole, we collaborated closely with the Building Committee and key staff to arrive at a successful master plan. The Master Plan preserved and enhanced the campus setting, improved circulation and pedestrian safety, improved security, and allowed for phased construction and future expansion.
