Charming Square

Tokyo, Japan – After an international search for a senior living design consultant, the Japanese developer, ZECS Co. of Tokyo, Japan, selected KDA Architects for the design of a new retirement community. KDA consulted with a local Japanese architect, Kura, in the development of a new ten-story facility in the Shirogane section of Tokyo.

KDA was responsible for all common spaces, including the entry foyer and public corridors to the main dining rooms. High-end finishes such as mosaic marble floors are found throughout. ¬†Classical elements like columns and vaulted rotunda ceilings took their cues from New York’s vintage Madison Avenue apartment buildings and five-star hotels. The elements not only accentuate these spaces, they function as wayfinding devices for the residents.
